| Bio: | I'm the theater and arts editor for Between The Lines, Michigan's weekly newspaper serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allied communities, a position I've held since the fall of 2001. I'm a member of both the American Theatre Critics Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. I came to this job with a wealth of theater-related experience. After serving stints as actor, public relations director, box office manager, administrative director and producer for two Michigan professional theater companies, I co-founded and served as executive director of Crossroads Productions, Ltd., a nationally-recognized, award-winning, touring educational theater company. For much of its 14 years in business, the non-profit company was the second largest theater of its kind in Michigan. I've also written or co-authored a half-dozen professionally-produced plays that address such societal issues as divorce, substance abuse and AIDS. Created in conjunction with well-known subject matter experts, these plays were performed to tens of thousands of teenagers and adults all across Michigan throughout the mid-to-late 1980s and 1990s. And somewhere during all of this, I also found time to work as a freelance entertainment writer and theater critic for the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers (1979-1982). This blog will primarily focus on theater. No, I won't post any reviews here; for those, you'll have to read my weekly column in Between The Lines (or online at www.pridesource.com). Instead, I'll write about everything ELSE related to my experiences covering the theater scene - the people I talk to, the shows I DON'T review - and as insane as that might sound, that happens fairly frequently - and anything else that crosses my mind.
